One and the Same is Rachel MacKay and Mitzi Shetzline, two gifted musician/ vocalist/ song-writers who share a vision and an exquisite vocal blend. Recent work as active worship leaders and performances in coffee houses and festivals in Eastern Pennsylvania led to their debut CD, "Someday." Their music speaks of the hope God’s sovereignty and grace bring in times of crisis. "Someday" is the heart and soul collaboration of two close friends whose musical talents create a sound new for this genre. Rachel’s fresh but deeply spiritual lyrics cut at flesh and sinew. They are the foundation for Mitzi’s compositions. Mitzi uses the clay of her classical training, fashioning it with new tools developed from the styling blueprints of her favorite artists: Yes, Boston, Kansas, Santana, Tori Amos and Sara McLachlan. The result is a sound texture and musicality that engages the heart and stands up to replay. "Someday" is a place where poetry, eclectic, rock opera and Hollywood orchestral soundtracks meet. Both Rachel and Mitzi play piano on "Someday." On vocals, they trade off the lead, while the other wraps harmonies around the lead vocal line. The similarity of their vocal timbre and styling adds a fresh, driving dynamic to their songs. Even if the listener can distinguish two voices at first, as the song rolls out, they soon become One and the Same. Rachel’s prophetic gift is speaking directly to the heart of the listener. She draws from the spring of God’s grace extended to her and connects with anyone who has ever seriously sought God’s mercy. When complimented on her lyrics, she says, “It’s not me--- these lyrics, like everything else, come down to God’s sovereignty and grace.” Rachel and Mitzi have found peace in their homes and careers by relying on the greatness of God’s power and His intimate concern with their daily lives. A portion of the proceeds from each CD sold will go to benefit Choice One Crisis Pregnancy Center in Bucks County, PA where God is at work every day. Bio by: Katherine Smith Orange Tree Management |
